lazy snow ploughers

Tästä se lähtisi, Munkkiniemen 1,7 kilometriä pitkä luonnonjäärata nimittäin, jos vaan joku olisi käynyt auraamassa radan. Ainakaan pariin viime talveen rataa ei olla saatu auki, koska jää on ollut liian heikkoa, mutta tänä talvena paksuus on riittänyt.

Tänään aamulla, kun kiireiseen aikatauluumme olisi sopivasti mahtunut kävely luonnonjääradalla, ei rataa oltukaan aurattu. Laiskojen auraajien kanssa oli muuten ongelmia jo sunnuntaiaamupäivällä, kun automme juuttui takapihalle yöllä sataneeseen lumeen. Ja nyt kun tutkin asiaa netistä tarkemmin, niin Helsingin kaupungin nettisivujen mukaan Munkkiniemen jääradan kausi on loppunut jo 24.2. Ensi talveen sitten taas!

Here it would begin, the 1,7 km long natural ice skating course on the sea in Munkkiniemi, just if the snow was ploughed. The few previous winters the course has not been open at all, because the ice has not been thick enough, but this year there's been good ice.

This morning we had scheduled a walk on the ice, but just then it wasn't ploughed. We had already problems with lazy snow ploughers on Sunday, when our car was stuck on the back yard in the snow that had come down during the night. And now, when I was investigating the natural ice skating course a bit more on the Helsinki city's webpages, it seems that the season has ended already in the end of February and the course is no more maintained. Well, maybe next winter then!
