Ilmeisesti jo joskus 90-luvulla Englannin pubeista alkoi saada muutakin kuin kaljaa ja pähkinöitä, ja nykyään monessa tarjoillaan hyvin maistuvaa ruokaa.
Matkan varrella vauvauinnista kotiimme on eräs tällainen gastropubi, joka on aina aivan täynnä. Olemme usein yrittäneet päästä sinne syömään, mutta toivotonta ilman pöytävarausta. Viime sunnuntaina meillä oli vihdoin varaus. Iso-A teki sen perjantaina, emme saaneet ihan toivomaamme aikaa, ja sunnuntaina ravintolasta soitettiin vielä ja varmistettiin, että olemmehan varmasti tulossa. Kertoo vähän paikan suosiosta.
Kovat olivat siis odotukset, ja ruoka olikin tosi hyvää. Mutta vielä parempaa oli paikan fiilis, sellainen rennon cool. Joissain paikoissa vain on sitä jotain. Kyseinen pubi on nimeltään The Duke of Wellington, ja osoite 94 Crawford Street.
Already in the 90's English pubs started serving also other than just beer and peanuts, and today many of them offer very delicious food.
On our way from the baby swim to home is a pub that is always full. We have several times tried to eat there, but impossible without a reservation. Last Sunday we finally had a table reserved. Mr A did the reservation on Friday, and we did not get the exact time we were aiming for, and on Sunday they called and double checked that we are coming. Tells something about how popular the place is.
Expectations were high, and yes, the food was good. But even better was the atmosphere, kind of easygoing cool. Some places just have it. This pub is called The Duke of Wellington and the address is 94 Crawford Street.
